Bakery

Meet the bakers who supply our shops with their hand made products.

Bread and Morning Goods

From left; Val a native Italian who makes her wonderful Italian breads in a converted stable in Lodsworth just over the border in West Sussex. Centre, Chris and Cathy who own Chalk Hills Bakery, when they started their bakery everyone breathed a sigh of relief it was just what Surrey needed a modern sour dough bakery making gorgeous bread, morning goods, cakes and meringues. Finally Dineke of Crumbs of Capel a very small business which is located just one mile from our Ockley Shop. Sticking to traditional principles of sour dough production means this slowly fermented bread is full of flavour and lasts a lot longer than commerically made bread all of our bakers provide us with some of the best bread in Surrey (apart from Farretti but its only just over the county line).

Cakes

Whilst we do get some of our cakes from Chalk Hills Bakery we also get gluten free cakes from the Vicars Kitchen. This is a new start up by Victoria who cooks from her fathers kitchen in Capel. Victoria makes delicious home made brownies, courgette and lime and all sorts of wonderful treats. This baker describes herself as being a traditional but with a contemporary influence. So located just a mile away from our shop in Ockley makes Victoria a ‘very local’ to us producer. If you like to meet the producers why not pop in on our market day at Ockley you’ll find Vicars Kitchen and Chalk Hill there on the first Sunday of each month.
